No more long, tiring walks! This week, the Qhubeka Charity handed 262 Limpopo learners bicycles to a brighter, faster, and much more fun school commute.

Limpopo, South Africa (01 November 2026) – The Qhubeka Charity is finishing 2026 strong, and hundreds of young people will be getting to and from school safer and on time because of it!

The charity wrapped up a massive and final New Bike Day this week, with an incredible 262 bicycles being distributed to the Grade 11 learners at Mameriri Secondary School in Sekgopo, Limpopo.

This was Qhubeka’s biggest distribution yet, and the impact of receiving a bicycle was immediate.

“This morning [Thursday], children walked to school. This afternoon, they will ride home with the newfound freedom, joy, and fun that comes with owning a bicycle,” the Qhubeka Charity said.

For many children living in remote areas, a long walk to school means waking up in the dark just to make it to class on time, arriving exhausted before the school day even begins. A bicycle transforms this difficult daily routine, turning a tiring trek into a manageable ride that preserves a child’s energy for learning and play.

A bicycle also brings freedom, adventure, and plenty of fun along the way. Thanks to support from their corporate sponsor, (which has funded an incredible 7,658 bicycles since 2019), 262 more learners can look forward to easier journeys to school and more time for learning.

“For learners who walk long distances to school, these bicycles mean less time spent walking, less physical strain, and more time and energy for school, family responsibilities, and rest,” Qhubeka Charity emphasises.

Qhubeka thanks its generous sponsor and community champion on the ground for continuing to move people forward and helping more learners get to school, access opportunities, and build a brighter future.

Here’s to changing more lives, one bicycle at a time!
