The Wanderers Cricket Club have been reunited with a very special case that was created in 1988 to celebrate 100 years; it was donated to a charity which made sure it got back to the club.

Johannesburg, South Africa (21 June 2023) – This year, the Wanderers Cricket Club will be celebrating 135 years and thanks to Play It Forward Jozi, the club has been reunited with a piece of its history. A case that was made 35 years ago, to celebrate the club’s centenary in 1988, was sent to Play It Forward Jozi and they knew it was something special.

“A few weeks ago we received this amazing little find and we knew it had to be returned to its home after so long. Quite by chance Wanderers Cricket Club will be celebrating their 135th anniversary this year, making this Wanderers Centennial (1888 – 1988) trunk 35 years old. Thank you Graham McMillan for welcoming us this afternoon”

Graham McMillan met up with Ross Garrett who received the case as a donation. Ross runs the Play It Forward Jozi charity that collects used sporting equipment and donates it to people and sporting teams in need.

Ross was recently awarded his school colours for service to the community through his efforts at school and for running Play It Forward Jozi.

They welcome every kind of sporting good but sometimes they also have specific requests from teams or individuals. If you have anything to donate, you can email Alison, Ross’s mom here or check out the Play It Forward Jozi Facebook page here.
