A recently homeless woman gave what she had to help an NPO feed more struggling people, and we don’t think R500 has ever made us feel more emotional!

Paarl, South Africa (21 August, 2023) — An emotional moment came about for HEART NPO recently after a woman whose real name is not Faith (but may as well be) offered a few hundred rands to the non-profit. It was Faith’s first week in homelessness.

While helping clean up after the lunch service for other homeless guests, Faith made a special request and asked if she could go to the ATM to make a contribution to the NPO’s Street Outreach Meals.

The request was a surprise, to say the least. After all, Faith had just found herself new to the streets and there she was, offering the little she had left to help others.

Despite protests that she should keep her gift, Faith was determined. For her, the little she had to give was not much in comparison to the blessings she believed were coming her way.

HEART NPO’s voice shared that it was an incredibly difficult situation to be in and that all tokens of thanks from people they have helped cause the same dilemma—even a gift as seemingly little as a sweet.

Eventually, HEART decided to honour Faith’s wishes to commit the gift to the food outreach, while spotlighting an opportunity to pay Faith’s goodness forward.

Currently, HEART is looking for people to give Faith a work opportunity and realise the brighter future she so surely believes in (if you think you can help, HEART can be contacted on 0625375206).

Faith’s story sits with us because determination to give, should. Give a little more love than you can afford. A little more kindness than you feel like. A little more patience than you thought was possible on an angry Monday afternoon. Being determined to better others’ lives usually means giving, and we can all take a leap of Faith.
