When Itumeleng Mokwena found out his 11-year-old son was in talks with the Daytona dealership regarding the purchase of a luxury car, he quickly remedied the situation; not wanting the dream to falter, the dealership gave the young car enthusiast the best day out!
Sandton, South Africa (08 December 2023) – Dad, Itumeleng Mokwena, got a huge shock when he saw messages on his 11-year-old son’s WhatsApp regarding the purchase of a Rolls Royce Ghost. Kamogelo was on the market for his dream car and was going to make it happen – that is until his family stepped in to clear up the situation. What followed on from the initial communications was a day filled with fun and a chance to sit in his dream car.
Itumeleng took to his social media page in early November to share how his son had been in full communication with Grant, a sales assistant at Daytona, a luxury vehicle dealership in Sandton.
Once the situation had been cleared up, the family laughed, and life went on, but the team at Daytona and Melrose Arch decided that they didn’t want Kamogelo’s dream to end there. So they invited the family for a fun day out and Kamogelo got to finally see his dream car in person.

This is how the family’s day out went:
Kamogelo and Itumeleng arrived at Daytona where they got to go for a ride in the Rolls Royce Ghost, both on and off the Precinct. Kamogelo not only got to experience his dream car, but also toured the dealership, seeing all the cars on offer and getting to sit in each one. The dealership gifted him a goodie bag filled with all the essentials any car enthusiast would love, from branded hats to notebooks and more.

All the adrenaline worked up quite an appetite, and Kamogelo’s “drive with destiny” was followed by a delicious lunch at Mr George. For all-day roadside café dining, from souvlaki to salads, and steaks and schnitzels, Mr George is ideal for the whole family and Kamogelo and his dad certainly enjoyed the hearty spoil.
Several other Melrose Arch businesses jumped on board to give Kamogelo and his dad the best day. From Artjamming after lunch, where Kamogelo could explore the art of “paintertainment”, to a round-off of dessert at the AJ Whisks.
They even got the father-son duo a night at the Protea Fire and Ice Hotel by Marriott for a staycation spoil in the heart of the Melrose Arch Precinct.
Enjoying a slow and sumptuous Sunday morning breakfast before checking out, it was a day that Kamogelo and his Dad will never forget, and together with Daytona, Mr George, Artjamming, AJ Whisks and The Protea Fire and Ice Hotel by Marriott, Melrose Arch is proud to have seen Christmas come a little earlier than usual this year, with Kamogelo getting so much more than the “test drive” he was looking for.
