A clever combination of Padel and South Africa’s beloved Tennis Biscuits has gone viral, and the creative mind behind it is 24-year-old Zeenat Moolla, who turned a twisted ankle into an opportunity to showcase her sharp marketing skills and quirky humour!

Johannesburg, South Africa (22 October 2024) – If you’ve been scrolling through Facebook, WhatsApp, or Twitter recently, chances are you’ve come across the hilarious and clever viral Padel/Tennis Biscuits photo!

But what you may not know is that it all started on LinkedIn, and Good Things Guy had the chance to chat with the brilliant mind behind it – 24-year-old South African, Zeenat Moolla.

Last week, while recovering from a twisted ankle after a game of Padel, Zeenat had a lightbulb moment over a cup of tea and her favourite comfort snack, Bakers Tennis Biscuits. She combined her love for Padel and the iconic biscuits in a clever LinkedIn post.

The post went live on around midday on Wednesday, 16th October, initially gathering a few likes and comments. Zeenat didn’t think much of it at first – but by the next day, her clever Padel/Tennis Biscuits idea was spreading like wildfire across social media!

“The next morning, I woke up to screenshots of a copied version of my post sent to me by my peers and colleagues who follow me on LinkedIn. I was bummed that it wasn’t my picture circulating, but I was stoked that people liked my idea!”

Zeenat, a marketing graduate from the University of Witwatersrand, had been combining her creative flair and quirky humour for some time, hoping to showcase her skills on social media.

“I wanted to start sharing my creative ideas as part of my career journey. If I post what I think could be great marketing campaigns and tag the relevant companies, it might get me the traction I want.”

It certainly did! And while social media can be overwhelming at times, Zeenat is using it to fuel her creativity and spark conversations.

“I’ve been guilty of ‘binge consuming’ content without control or purpose. But my manager, Elsa Antunes, encouraged me to create a Social Media Strategy for myself, treating myself like a brand.”

So did Zeenat expect her padel-biscuit idea to gain this much attention?

“Honestly, I wasn’t sure how LinkedIn users would react. I thought they might see beyond the humour and analyse the marketing concept. I never imagined it would go viral!”

And when it comes to the sport, Zeenat is clear about her loyalties.

“I’m team Padel! I’ve only played Tennis once, but I enjoy Padel socially, and I love the community it’s created.”

As for whether Bakers will take her idea further, Zeenat remains hopeful.

“They haven’t acknowledged my post yet, but it would be amazing to see this idea come to life as a limited-edition item!”

Zeenat’s story is one of creativity, opportunity, and a little bit of humour that has connected with people far and wide but it just goes to show that sometimes the best ideas are the ones right in front of you – even when you’re stuck on the couch with a twisted ankle and a pack of biscuits!

And as her clever post continues to spark conversations and laughter, we can’t help but wonder: Are you Team Padel or Team Tennis?
