Lily Allen was among the many musicians who participated in Women’s Marches across the world last Saturday, joining Madonna, Sleater-Kinney, Janelle Monáe, and many others in expressing their resistance to anti-feminist policies and ideals promoted by the new Trump administration.
The British singer took part in the Women’s March on London, performing a new cover of Rufus Wainwright’s “Going to a Town” to a crowd of fellow protesters.
And the song has some powerful opinions in the lyrics: “You took advantage of a world that loved you well/ I’m going to a town that has already been burnt down/ I’m so tired of you, America,”
Today, Allen released a studio version of that cover featuring music by Mark Ronson along with a black-and-white music video by Bafic.
The video captures footage from the Women’s March on London, including a clip of Allen’s live performance.
