Today is “Telethon Day” at the Owl Rescue Centre! The phones are ringing and the rands are rising as the dedicated wildlife team strives to secure the future of their invaluable Sanctuary, which has been a vibrant home to over 1000 resident owls and countless wildlife patients rescued over the years.
Hartbeespoort, South Africa (27 June 2025) – It is the 27th of June, and that means that today is officially the Owl Rescue Centre’s second Telethon fundraiser!
The fundraiser hopes to bring the conservation centre one step closer to securing its Sanctuary, which was purchased on a Deed of Sale exactly eleven years ago.
With the current owner and the most generous landlord one could wish for, Roger Bullen, entering retirement, the Owl Rescue team faces the crucial task of raising R4 million to permanently own the premises for future generations.
“It’s a ton of money, but if you’ve ever visited the Centre, you’ll most likely agree to its value.
“To our cause, our work and the owls that live here, it’s invaluable. It is home to over 1000 resident owls and hundreds of other wildlife patients that we’ve rescued over the years,” The Owl Rescue Centre said.
For the first Telethon, the organisation managed to raise just over R300k, which was safely put away in an interest-bearing account.
Today’s Telethon kicked off as early as 6 am and has already seen pledges pouring in from supporters who share the dream to see the wildlife centre continue its vital conservation efforts and thrive, allowing countless more creatures to find solace and care.
The Telethon will continue throughout the day until 9 pm. All you need to do is call or WhatsApp your pledge. Check out this post for contact details.
Facebook updates will also be shared right through the day with details of every pledged amount.
