Cuteness alert! In a touching display of community spirit, the Animal Welfare Helderberg doggos are now ready to brave the cold season, thanks to the collaborative efforts of a dedicated sewing team and generous fabric donors.
Helderberg, South Africa (03 July 2025) – Animal Welfare Helderberg’s furry friends will be a whole lot warmer this cold season thanks to a generous donation of over 220 dog jackets!
This act of kindness was made possible by the collaborative efforts of a dedicated sewing team, generous fabric donors and suppliers as part of a project spearheaded by Lyndsay McEwan.
Animal Welfare Helderberg expressed immense gratitude, ensuring that “all our dogs will be feeling a bit warmer this winter!”
“We would like to say a massive thank you to the following people who contributed towards this project,” Animal Welfare Helderberg said.
They extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved, including Jenn Beadsworth, Lelanie Galhardo, Brigitte Pagels, Jenny Bates, Pieter Vermeulen, anonymous donors, and Studio 47 Somerset West who supplied the fabric at a discounted price.
The tireless sewing team of Lyndsay, Brigitte Pagels, Jenny Bates, and newcomer Jacqueline Brown were also lauded for their efforts.
These colourful dog jackets have surely brought the many four-legged residents at the shelter that extra dose of love and warmth as they patiently wait for their forever homes.

Apart from taking in strays or animals surrendered to their care, the animal shelter also aids the surrounding communities by caring for injured or sick animals and releasing them back to their owners, sterilised and vaccinated.
The organisation is currently underway with a massive sterilisation project and, despite limited funds, continues to do so much good for animals in bad situations.
