The young boys showcased their art, music, and stories, reminding us how vital it is to nurture creativity at a young age.

Johannesburg, South Africa (05 August 2025) – There is something special about watching children turn their ideas into reality through music, colour, and stories. Grade 1 and 2 boys from St John’s College took to the stage for a Creative Arts Showcase that left their families smiling from ear to ear.

The halls were filled with tiny violins, cheerful voices, and bright artwork on display. From carefully rehearsed pieces to moments of pure beauty, the boys showed just how powerful creativity can be when nurtured from a young age.

Pre-Prep Drama Teacher Colette de la Rey summed up the evening beautifully.

“Filled with rehearsed moments and improvised segments, the showcase highlighted the collaborative power of the Creative Arts, subjects that lay the foundation for nurturing caring, thoughtful, and connected individuals who will shape the world of tomorrow.”

The showcase was more than just a cute school event. It reminded everyone how creativity builds confidence and helps children learn to express themselves in unique ways. Giving children the space to draw, act, or play music is not only fun. It is an important part of their early learning journey.

When children are encouraged to create, their imaginations can light up a room.
