For over two decades, a small hospice in Edenvale has been showing South Africans what it means to care with heart, offering peace and comfort to those facing their final chapter.
Johannesburg, South Africa (20 August 2025) – There’s something extraordinary about ordinary people doing quiet, powerful things behind the scenes… no spotlight, no fuss, just unwavering kindness. This week on Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we get to sit down with one such team whose work is not only inspiring but deeply moving: the hearts behind the Edenvale Care Centre Hospice.
Since 2002, this team has been turning an ordinary house in Edenvale into something extraordinary. What was once a double garage is now a warm, peaceful ward. The living room has become a space for families to gather and just be present with loved ones.
Every room in the house serves a purpose and every purpose is grounded in dignity and care.
Hospice care is different. It doesn’t fight death; it embraces life, right up to the very end. And at Edenvale Care Centre Hospice, they don’t just treat illness, they support people. Patients. Families. Friends. Their mission is all about palliative care, counselling and community involvement… an outreach of love that goes far beyond medicine.
