When Grayson the cat returned home from an adventure, his family was terrified to find him covered in motor oil. Thankfully, the ending to this story is a beautiful one!

Cape Town, South Africa (27 August 2025) – A cat named Grayson had his family in a panic when he returned home covered in motor oil from one of his mischievous adventures. Things sadly took a turn for the worse when he got sick after attempting to groom himself.

Despite the family’s greatest efforts to help him, they were unable to remove all the oily residue.

Not knowing where else to turn to, as they couldn’t afford the costs of veterinary treatment, they knocked on the doors of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

The door was opened with a heartfelt “yes” to their plea for help.

Grayson was sedated, bathed repeatedly in warm soapy water, dried by hand, and treated for mild poisoning, the SPCA confirms.

“When his mom finally held him again, healthy, fluffy, and very much himself, we witnessed a tender moment that explains why we can never stop saying YES.”

It is this very compassion that returned Grayson home and dried the tears of his dear mommy.

video shared online captured a mother’s emotional joy upon being reunited with Grayson, once a stray who found a loving home with her.

She expressed her gratitude to the animal welfare heroes who helped save her furry companion and showed her human kindness in her moment of desperation.

To support the SPCA in saying “yes” to many more animals in need, consider leaving them a donation.
