A few weeks ago, two young animal welfare volunteers needed help to make their school trip dreams come true. Now they’re on their way to Cape Town!

Last month, we shared the story of young St Francis Animal Rescue volunteers Clifton (Prompie) and Shakira, who were hoping to join their fellow Sea Vista Primary School learners on an exciting five-day trip to Cape Town.
There was just one problem. Their families could not afford the R6000 cost per learner.
The pair spend much of their free time helping St Francis Animal Rescue with outreaches and accompanying the animal welfare organisation on regular walks through the Sea Vista township in St Francis.
“True animal lovers, these kids are skilled at handling sick and wounded dogs and cats and keeping them calm in the car, and at the clinic. Over time, Cliffton and Shakira have become invaluable members of St Francis Animal Rescue who go out of their way to help us whenever they can.” shared the animal welfare organisation.
So, when the organisation realised they might miss out on their school trip, it wanted to do something to give back to their youngest animal heroes. A call was put out on social media appealing to the public to help make big things happen for the two youngsters who have so willingly given their time to help animals in their community.
This week, St Francis Animal Rescue shared the happy sight everyone had been hoping for! Clifton and Shakira were officially off to Cape Town, joined by fellow volunteer Zozo.
“OFF THEY GO!” the organisation celebrated.

“These young students truly deserve this amazing experience to discover the world that exists outside Sea Vista.” it added. “Our grateful thanks to Denude for providing all the travellers with delicious packs of Padkos, for their journey. We so appreciate the love from all those who help to improve the lives of those less fortunate!”
The organisation gave special thanks to supporter Stella Plantinga for helping make it all happen.
Not long ago, these youngsters were facing the possibility of watching their classmates leave without them. This very happy ending made possible by people who decided that three deserving young people should get to go along for the adventure!
