If she isn’t reaching for her super glue to fix worn-out shoes, she’s braiding hair or even helping out in the kitchen – all while shaping the minds of the next generation of changemakers.
Johannesburg, South Africa (16 September 2025) – There are some truly remarkable teachers out there. Those who don’t just deliver lessons but invest their hearts in creating nurturing environments where students feel seen, heard, and understood.
Many of us had the joy and honour of experiencing them. They’re the ones who stay late to help a struggling student, offer a listening ear during a personal crisis, or spark passion with an infectious enthusiasm for their subject.
One such teacher is Charmaine Shamiso, who delights in sharing about just how much she enjoys being an educator who plants seeds of knowledge while encouraging her learners to show up as their best every day.
In a recent post on her Facebook, Charmaine shared a compilation of videos of how she is a teacher who wears many hats and is always willing to help or extend kindness where it’s needed.
From sharing her cool drink with a thirsty learner and fixing worn-out school shoes to styling learners’ hair, supporting their bake sales and assisting the kitchen staff, Charmaine does it all with the biggest of hearts.
The video shows her embracing all these different roles and fulfilling so many other tasks that go beyond marking tests and sticking to the curriculum.
Her acts of human kindness shine as an example to her youngsters, physically demonstrating what it means to help where there aren’t enough hands, to fill the gaps and to lift someone in need. She isn’t just shaping academic minds, she’s developing their characters.
Her post was met with an outpouring of love and adoration from social media users who praised Charmaine as a teacher who dabbles as a parent and a true blessing to her learners.
“You are so much more! What an amazing ray of sunshine you are to all your learners and to your school,” a user, Simone Lategan, commented.
