Queen’s Roger Taylor shares a message for the Ndlovu Youth Choir after their spin on Bohemian Rhapsody…

South Africa (28 September 2025) – Just over a month after releasing their spin on Queen’s world-famous Bohemian Rhapsody, the band’s drummer has shared a special message for South Africa’s stars, the Ndlovu Youth Choir.

Their version, which is the first ever officially licensed version of the song, approved by Queen’s band members, is a take on what Bohemian Rhapsody could have been, if Freddie had never left his home in Africa at the age of 17.

It has taken not only South Africa but the world by storm, with almost a million streams on YouTube.

It’s a massive honour to be blessed by one of the legendary band’s most beloved members, Roger Taylor. The drummer (and backing vocalist), from his home in England, recently took it upon himself to record a video message thanking SA’s shining stars for their beautiful version of the song.

“Hello, Ndlovu Youth Choir. This is Roger from Queen, saying how much I loved and enjoyed your wonderful video of your fantastic version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I wish you all power, all good luck with it. Lots of love from England to you. What a wonderful choir,” says Roger.

The Ndlovu Youth Choir responded with gratitude.

“uBaba Roger, we are deeply honoured and humbled. Thank you for your beautiful message. We are so happy to receive your blessing and we are glad that we made you proud. Siyabonga!” they said.

This comes days after the choir wrapped a whirlwind Heritage Tour with a Heritage Day performance at the SunBet arena on Wednesday. Thousands of South Africans showed up to see SA’s renowned stars. Judging from the response after the show, everybody left with their hearts full and pride overflowing for SA.

That’s the kind of emotion seeing the Ndlovu Youth Choir perform live stirs up!

If you haven’t seen it already, here’s their version of Bohemian Rhapsody:
