Matthew Bosch finished 6th overall in the senior trampoline finals, marking South Africa’s first male finalist in over ten years at the 38th FIG Trampoline World Championships.
Pamplona, Spain (12 November 2025) – Team South Africa has plenty to celebrate after an inspiring performance at the 38th FIG Trampoline World Championships in Pamplona, Spain. Matthew Bosch made history as the first male gymnast from South Africa to qualify for a world finals in over a decade.
Matthew’s performance in the senior trampoline finals earned him a remarkable 6th place finish overall, with a total score of 27.50, proudly flying the South African flag on one of the sport’s biggest stages. His achievement marks a major milestone, as no South African male gymnast has reached the world finals since 2014.
Matthew was part of a strong South African contingent representing the nation in trampoline, tumbling, and double mini-trampoline disciplines. The team had names like Leolin Petersen, Nikita Chambers, Jean Claude Roux, Jean-Pierre Roux, and Michael Masangane Jr, competing with determination to win big and, of course, showcase the growing strength of South African gymnastics on the global stage.

There were more reasons to celebrate as Leolin Petersen also delivered a stellar performance, finishing 13th in the world after qualifying for her first-ever World Championship semi-final. An incredible result that hints that we might be seeing more of these performances internationally.
As the championships wrapped up in Pamplona, Team SA’s results reflected talent and the passion that continues to drive the growth of trampoline and tumbling sports in the country.
