Streetscape’s new skills programme isn’t just about its participants packing and labelling sanitary products; it is also significantly supporting underprivileged women and school girls across Cape Town.

Cape Town, South Africa (17 April 2026) – In its ongoing efforts to provide a hand up, not a handout, by creating work opportunities for people on the streets, Streetscape’s Community Projects is excited to share a powerful partnership that is creating real opportunities for its programme participants trying to rebuild their lives.

The Project has partnered with Girls with Wings for a unique and meaningful initiative. Together, they have launched a Sanitary Pad Packing and Labelling Skills Programme that supports the distribution of sanitary products to underprivileged women and school girls across Cape Town.

Through weekly sessions, Streetscapes participants will sort, pack and label these products – participating in structured work opportunities where they earn an income and develop workplace skills like teamwork, time management and quality control. They will also get to build confidence and responsibility and gain exposure to real production environments.

More profoundly, at the heart of the programme are individuals who are determined to change the course of their lives and, in the process, are ensuring that essential sanitary products reach young women who need them most. Dignity, restored both ways.

“This collaboration is about more than packing boxes — it’s about skills, dignity, income, and pathways to employment. This initiative will impact 50–60 women in our programme, providing meaningful work experience and short-term income while building employment readiness,” Streetscape’s Community Projects shares in a post.

Such partnerships and projects are the driving force behind Streetscape’s work. As the organisation eloquently puts it:

“When organisations collaborate, we can create practical, scalable opportunities that help people move from survival to stability and employment readiness. A heartfelt thank you to Girls with Wings for an incredible partnership – we look forward to growing together.”
