Local runners get a boost of motivation as Springbok star Faf de Klerk joins them on their run with his signature speedo.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 November 2025)- It is early in the morning. You head out for your usual jog, expecting nothing more than just a good workout, until a national rugby star joins the route.

Well, that was Nkosi Nsumbu’s morning, who was out on his usual route when he found himself sharing the road with none other than Springbok scrumhalf Faf de Klerk.

Faf, currently playing for Yokohama Canon Eagles in Japan’s Rugby League One, is in South Africa and, judging by this video, true to form. He is alongside “The Faffies”, spotted wearing his famous SA-flag speedos, even in the windy weather.

Nkosi captured the moment in excitement, posting a clip with the words:

“Imagine this, guys. Running on a random morning… but Faf himself. Imagine this.”

Perfectly summing up the magic of South African sport.  Your heroes are not always behind stadium gates or TV screens. Sometimes, they are right beside you on the pavement, giving you more motivation than any running playlist ever could.

Watching them pass, Nkosi captioned the moment, “What a life.” A reminder that life’s simple pleasures, such as a run, the energy of others or a shared laugh, can become unforgettable memories.
