There’s serious rugby ahead, but for a moment the Boks let the world see their lighter side… and Mzansi is loving every second of it.
Global (22 November 2025) – Somewhere between the pressure, the preparation, and the weight of a nation’s hopes, the Springboks always manage to remind us why South Africans love them so fiercely. It’s not just the rugby. It’s not only the results. It’s the spirit. That unmistakable mix of heart, humour and pure mischief that makes them feel like our very own family.
And this week, they gave us exactly that.
The Boks released a “behind the scenes” video of their team photo session ahead of their showdown with Ireland, and they could have been mistaken for a Grade R class lining up for their first school pictures. Lanky giants pulling each other’s socks down, locks being pushed around like siblings, hair being ruffled, friends giving each other nonsense and a whole lot of laughter.
It’s the kind of chaos that makes you grin before you even realise you’re doing it.
Fans certainly did.
One person commented, “These ones, you would swear they are in their Grade R era 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣”
“Smiling from ear to ear watching the vid,” another added.
And the love kept coming.
“This is hilarious 😂😂😂. Thank you guys we always looking forward for this moment.”
“That’s what you call Springbok Gees 😂 The Irish will feel it 😂😂😂🏉🇿🇦🔥💯❤️”
“So nice of Eben and RG to give their little lad a lift for a ride 🤣🤣 Two and a Half Men vibes!”
It’s joyful. It’s silly. It’s beautifully human.
And maybe that’s the magic of the Springboks. No matter the stakes, they stay grounded. They stay connected. They stay themselves. Their camaraderie isn’t forced… it flows. It strengthens them. It carries them. And it carries a whole nation with it.
