Now we’re all one wildflower and whistle richer!

South Africa (28 November 2025) – Mother Nature had it handled long before we ever did. She gave us the Bushman’s Candle before we had tealights, and Devil’s Thorn before we had soap.

She’s even given us wildflowers for whistles.

South African field guide Roné Reinders recently shared that golden nugget with her followers on social media.

Using a little red star zinnia bloom, she showed her safari guests how natural materials like wildflowers and reeds could have been used as a non-verbal mode of communication, long before we ever started pinging each other on WhatsApp.

Moments like these often become highlights of a safari. We learn to foster a greater respect for nature when we discover the many whimsical ways through which it has always provided!

There’s the nature wisdom you didn’t know you needed on a random Friday.
