The Qhubeka Charity team recently witnessed the powerful impact of their work when they were surprised by a group of determined young ladies from Mohumi Secondary School, whom they gifted bikes and taught how to ride.
Sekgopo, South Africa (03 December 2025) – In a heartfelt moment showcasing the joy and positive impact of their initiative, the Qhubeka Charity team was pleasantly surprised by some of the learners whose lives they’ve touched in rural South African schools.
During a recent new bike handover of 100 bicycles at Kgolakaleleme Secondary School in Sekgopo, the team received a heartwarming surprise from a group of girls from a neighbouring school, Mohumi Secondary.
With determination and the guidance of a dedicated teacher, they rode more than 18km (a round trip of 9km each way) from their school to greet and show their gratitude to the Qhubeka Charity team members who taught them how to ride a bicycle for the first time just over a month ago.
“Their visit was more than just a hello. It was a celebration of progress and newfound freedom. With their bicycles, they are creating their own adventures and are now exploring their village in an entirely new way,” the team said.
By providing bicycles to youngsters in underserved communities, Qhubeka gives a gift that is so much more than just a basic mode of transport. These bikes help learners get to school safely and on time, visit family and friends, run small errands, and explore new opportunities beyond the classroom.
And as this recent surprise of appreciation demonstrates, these bicycles also bring true joy!
They are happiness on two wheels, bringing smiles, laughter, and the pure excitement of riding. With every pedal, youngsters are not just moving forward; they are having fun, building confidence, and discovering freedom.
