Even in the business of school work and demanding assignments, youngsters across the Western Cape province still prioritise the importance of giving blood – a vital lifeline for countless patients in need.

Western Cape, South Africa (12 December 2025) – In moments of medical crisis, the selfless act of blood donation offers a lifeline, sustaining that little bit of hope for patients clinging to survival in critical conditions.

Even with their busy academic schedules and extracurricular activities, hundreds of young donors have intentionally made time to support the blood supply, which makes a significant difference to those who need it.

Each year, schools across the province play a vital role in supporting the blood supply by encouraging eligible learners to donate. This year, their participation has once again demonstrated the power of youth in saving lives.

The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is proud to announce the Top 10 schools that contributed the highest number of blood units in 2025.

Across the Cape, youth stepped forward in remarkable numbers from first-time donors making their debut to returning young donors who continue to prioritise the importance of giving blood. Together, they’re proving that when youth unite, the impact is extraordinary.
