After years of hardship, the Ngcobo family in KwaZulu-Natal has finally traded a cramped house for the lasting comfort of a true home.

Durban, South Africa (19 December 2025) – A family once struggling to find comfort in the one place it should never be denied has finally received that intangible warmth, thanks to kind strangers who heard their cries.

For far too long, the Ngcobo family lived in a cramped, rundown house, with far too many souls sharing a single roof. Upon learning of their situation, the Mission Thando Khabazela Soup Kitchen reached out to its partners – a network dedicated to restoring hope for those carrying burdens too heavy to bear alone.

As appeals were sent out far and wide, a wave of support poured in. The building was extended and refurbished, ensuring the Ngcobo family finally has the dignified home they deserve.

“We are overflowing with gratitude today as we share the wonderful news of how you have transformed the life of the Ngcobo family.

“Thanks to your incredible generosity, they now have a decent, spacious room that feels like a sanctuary,”  Mission Thando said.

Further support also ensured that this new space feels like a true home, as kind donors provided a comfortable bed with fresh linen, a sturdy wardrobe to keep clothes organised, and kitchen cabinets stocked with essentials, as well as numerous other household items that make daily life easier.

“You also covered the cost of paint, giving the walls a bright, hopeful new look, and you rolled up your sleeves to fix the yard, turning a neglected space into a safe, welcoming area for the children to play.

“Your kindness goes far beyond bricks and mortar; you have given the Ngcobo family dignity, stability, and a place they can truly call home. You are the reason we can keep saying: ‘No one should sleep hungry or live without a safe roof over their head’.”

Mission Thando, a non-profit that works to support and empower those in need in the communities of Quarry Heights, Ntuzuma and surroundings, especially thanked The Angel Network Durban for being the lifeline that helps lift families out of hardship and into hope.

Thanks to every heart that responded and the commitment of these charities, a family that once didn’t know the true comfort of home can fully embrace it.
