The NACSA Southfield Congregation stepped into 2025 with open hearts and a shared promise to brighten their neighbours’ lives through intentional acts of kindness – and as the year comes to a close, they’ve done just that!

Cape Town, South Africa (19 December 2025) – For many of us, the start of the new year looks like being armed with crisp planners and ambitious resolutions, fuelled by the quiet, persistent hope that this version of ourselves will be a little kinder, a little more disciplined, and more present than the one before.

For the folk at NACSA Southfield Congregation, the beginning of 2025 came with an intentional commitment to spreading more goodness to the community, under the personally motivating slogan: “It’s Time to Do Good”.

Earlier in the year, their journey of service began with the Sunday School Knit-a-Thon initiative, where beanies, clothing, and toys were lovingly knitted for the babies at Somerset Hospital.

“Inspired by this act of generosity, we were moved to expand our outreach even further, leading to the Hope in a Box initiative, through which we were able to provide essential items to patients, offering comfort, dignity, and care,” the congregation shared online.

More recently, last week, the church marked a deeply meaningful moment as the Young People from Southfield congregation had the privilege of personally handing over gifts and donated items to older patients at Somerset Hospital.

“This act of service beautifully reflected our slogan for the year, ‘It’s Time to Do Good,’ reminding us that doing good is not just a theme, but a way of living out God’s love in practical and compassionate ways.”

The handover marked the final initiative of the year, bringing Southfield Congregation’s year of service to a close on a powerful and hope-filled note.

“Together, as a congregation, we are grateful for the opportunity to end the year by serving, giving, and truly doing good, sharing God’s love in a tangible and meaningful way.”
