Every weekend, Sharon and Naeem get up early to heat their stoves and prep massive pots of food for the many Durban families who live without the peace of mind of knowing where their next meal will come from.
Durban, South Africa (30 January 2026) – Hunger and poverty are pressing realities in our country. Very real and growing challenges that, fortunately, are not beyond the reach of our everyday helpers and heroes. Refusing to give up the fight, the People of South Africa Foundation remains dedicated to bringing hope to children, the elderly, and communities at large.
Last week, the Foundation’s Director, Sharon Rambujan, and her partner, Naeem, fed 200 people across various communities in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Every weekend, these two dedicated individuals show up and roll up their sleeves to turn high-quality ingredients into warm, homely meals for the most vulnerable members of our society.
“It is not flashy work. It is the kind of kindness that happens quietly, in big pots, in steady hands, and in the simple moment someone takes a bite and breathes out because, for today, they are not going to bed hungry,” shares People of South Africa through their communication channel, We Are South Africans.

Sharon and Naeem understand the heavy burden felt by so many families who live without the peace of mind of knowing where their next meal will come from. And that is why what they do matters. Because when people are struggling, consistently showing up for them is everything.
More than just a warm plate and a familiar taste, the gesture offers dignity and the reminder that someone still sees them.
The public is invited to support this initiative by donating ingredients, sponsoring meals, helping with transport or contributing financially.
“If you would like to help us keep showing up, please support these communities as we continue to reach people through these hardships. It all helps us stretch further, feed more, and do it again next weekend. Even sharing this message can connect us to the next person who can help.”
