At Angels’ Care, a child’s education shouldn’t stop at the classroom door, especially when it comes to keeping them safe on the streets they walk every day.
Howick, South Africa (16 March 2026) – At Angels’ Care Centre, the commitment to the development of the whole child: mind, body and spirit is the heartbeat of the team’s mission.
It is evident in the provision of interactive play, structured learning activities, individualised attention, well-balanced nutrition, quality academic programmes, as well as spiritual and emotional support.
This holistic support is delivered through the organisation’s projects such as the After School Programme. Recently, these young learners, many of whom navigate busy roads daily to travel between home and school, participated in a vital lesson on how to stay “street smart” and safe.
The Howick Municipality’s Traffic Department visited the Angels’ Care Centre, where children learned how to navigate traffic safely, the importance of “Stop, Look, and Listen,” and how to be visible on the road.
“Their safety is our absolute priority, so we were thrilled to have the professionals come in to give an educational talk on traffic safety and essential road rules. Seeing these lessons come to life helps ensure our learners feel confident and secure on their daily commutes,” the charity said.
A road safety awareness talk and demonstration for young learners who cross busy roads every single day may seem like a simple effort, but sometimes, that’s what it takes to foster alertness and save a life.
In reality, a powerful intervention that can bridge the gap between a routine commute and a life-altering tragedy. Tangible, hands-on demonstrations, like these, empower young pedestrians to navigate high-risk environments with both caution and confidence.
Angels’ Care extended its heartfelt thanks to Hazel Lake for her incredible assistance in coordinating this educational visit and making this life-saving talk happen.
“Our community is safer because of your efforts!”
