Hearts in Hands’ tables have been full, but their hearts fuller with incredible volunteers lending a hand to help pack thoughtful goodies into every single blessing bag and treat pack for the elderly.
Durban, South Africa (17 March 2026) – Our beloved seniors deserve all the love and warmth they can get, and the Heart in Hands (HIH) Food Bank team has been dedicated to making sure they feel cherished!
Yesterday, they embarked on a heartfelt mission, temporarily transforming the Khwezi Skills Development Training Room to pack 80 blessing bags for the wonderful gogos and mkhulus served by Twinkle Star Foundation at their weekly soup kitchen.
The atmosphere was filled with chatter and lots of laughter as these lovely ladies packed and cleaned up in a remarkable time, 80 hampers filled with love, ready for outreach on Thursday morning, as HIH shared.
“We are so grateful to our sponsors for your generous support in helping us prepare these blessings for these elderly folk.”
Staying true to the spirit of giving, two younger volunteers, Trinity and Nick from Creston College, generously offered their time and hearts to serve and uplift the community.
Together, they spent hours on Sunday, 8 March, carefully packing over 150 treat packages for the elderly at The Elders Voice KZN.
“Their dedication and compassion remind us that true generosity is not measured by grand gestures, but by the willingness to show up, give time, and bring joy to others. Each package they prepared carries more than just treats—it carries love, dignity, and the message that our elders are cherished and remembered,” HIH said.
These were delivered last week, and thanks to Trinity and Nick, 150 seniors got to feel the warmth of community through this thoughtful act of kindness.
