Tuks Tennis junior delivers a standout performance at South Africa’s top junior tournament, finishes fourth and overcomes third seed player.
Pretoria, South Africa (17 April 2026) – Mahlaku Legare’s game is growing by the day, and her latest showing on the national stage proved it’s no longer just potential, it’s performance.
“I just need to believe and be more confident.”
Those were her words, and at the TSA Nationals, she did exactly that.
Competing in a tough 64-player draw at South Africa’s premier junior tennis event, the TuksTennis standout battled her way to an impressive fourth-place finish. It’s a result that not only highlights her consistency this season, but also signals her growing presence among the country’s top young talents.
Her campaign truly caught fire in the quarterfinals, where she delivered a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over third seed Emma van Rooyen.
“Reaching the semis at TSA Nationals was a huge goal for me this season. Beating a 3rd seed the way I did shows the work we’ve put in at TuksTennis is paying off. Im proud of the 4th place finish and hungry for more.”
That hunger has been evident throughout her season, with appearances in both the Super 8 circuit and the Nationals reinforcing her reputation as one of the most reliable performers on the junior circuit.
Behind the scenes, her growth hasn’t gone unnoticed. TuksTennis coach Prince Madema praised her composure and work ethic.
“Mahlaku competed with maturity beyond her years. To come through a 64-draw at the biggest junior event and take out a top seed, 6-2, 6-2 is a real statement. Her recent performance is a clear reflection of her commitment, hard work, perseverance, strong work ethic and trust in the training process.”
Now the next stop is taking on stronger fields in Super 8 tournaments and stepping onto the international stage through ITF J30 and J60 events. A great opportunity for a player clearly finding her stride.
