Visit your favourite local botanical garden on Nature Photography Day, snap a pic, and stand a chance to win!

South Africa (15 June 2026) – It’s Nature Photography Day! The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is giving you the chance to win a free day visit to one of its botanical or zoological gardens just for sharing your photos.

SANBI is marking the special occasion of Nature Photography Day by inviting garden lovers, nature enthusiasts, and photography fans to visit any of its botanical or zoological gardens and capture what they see.

Feel like your snap is good enough for the gram? Then it could stand you a chance to win free time in your favourite garden!

“National botanical and zoological gardens are windows to South African unique biodiversity on your doorstep,” says Nontsikelelo Mpulo, Senior Manager, Marketing, Communication and Commercialisation “Our gardens allow visitors to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature in accessible, urban green spaces. Visit SANBI’s botanical and zoological gardens and allow your creative juices to flow and capture your own magic under the winter sun.”

All you need to do is visit any SANBI botanical or zoological garden between 12 and 16 June (competition ends tomorrow!), take up to three photos that speak to you – be it the aloes currently in flower, the birdlife, a waterfall, an animal, or just something that caught your eye – and share them to SANBI’s Facebook, X, or Instagram pages.

Tag SANBI and the garden you visited, and use the hashtags #SANBINaturePhoto2026, #Naturethroughyourlens and #SANBI4Nature.

Twelve lucky winners will each walk away with a day visit to a SANBI botanical or zoological garden.

“SANBI has introduced winter season pricing across the majority of its gardens which means you pay less to experience the botanical wonders…”

Entries close 16 June 2026 (tomorrow), so if you’re heading to a SANBI garden today, take your camera!
