South African Olive Oil Slips International Gold Award…Again!

Another international win! South Africa’s extra virgin olive oil is golden in all the best ways.

Klein Karoo, South Africa (24 June 2026) – Buffelsdrift Farm has just brought home a gold medal from the Carthage International Olive Oil Competition 2026 in Tunisia, for its Extra Virgin Coratina Olive Oil!

The award went to Vyversrus Farms (Pty) Ltd for the Buffelsdrift Farm oil after it was evaluated by an international panel of olive oil experts during the competition held from 9-11 June.

The international competition brings together producers from olive-growing regions around the world, with judges looking for oils that tick the boxes of quality, balance, flavour, and craftsmanship!

Buffelsdrift Farm is based near Ladismith in the Klein Karoo. It’s yet another proud international moment (third and counting!) in what has become a golden run of recognition for South African olive oil over the last year.

The Coratina varietal they produce is known for its bold, punchy flavour and naturally high antioxidant content.

Buffelsdrift Farm focuses on careful cultivation, early harvesting, and a hands-on approach to production, all aimed at keeping the oil as pure and flavourful as possible.

South Africa’s olive oil expertise is increasingly being noticed internationally, too. Two respected local judges from the SA Olive Industry Association, Reni Hildenbrand and Benedetta Lami, were once again selected to serve on the international judging panel at this year’s competition.
