When a struggling person is truly seen, and a community chooses to show up, hope can turn into healing, dignity and a brand-new beginning. Sidney Miller’s journey is living proof of this!

Cape Town, South Africa (01 July 2026) – Sidney Miller, a man struggling through a rainy Cape Town storm in a wheelchair. A man who could have easily gone unnoticed as he navigated the harshest realities of being alone and homeless. Only, he wasn’t alone. Through the heavy rain, someone truly saw him and went on to change his life in the most soul-stirring way.

The story of Sidney and content creator Chad Nathan has captured hearts across the country and beyond, and we have been privileged to follow their beautiful journey from the very beginning.

From the viral video of their very first encounter to people everywhere rallying to change this man’s circumstances, ultimately raising over R500,000 for Sidney, their journey has proved how the power of the internet and the pure compassion of South Africans (and beyond) can save a stranger.

The Angel Network also recently confirmed that the funds raised for Sidney are being safely managed on his behalf, ensuring every contribution is used in his best interests.

And now, the real journey to rebuilding his life begins.

Sidney, who had been recovering in hospital following the recent amputation of his second leg, received a new electric wheelchair. Souper Troopers has been walking alongside him as he takes the next steps towards moving forward.

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working closely with Sidney to address his immediate health needs and lay the foundations for the life he wants to build. Every step is being taken with care, compassion, and respect,” the organisation said.

Together, the team and Sidney have been focusing on what matters most: improving his health, securing stable accommodation, and strengthening his relationships with family.

“Rebuilding after homelessness is about so much more than money. It’s about restoring dignity, rebuilding confidence, creating stability, and ensuring that every decision supports a healthy, sustainable future,” Souper Troopers explained.

Chad also extended his gratitude to Souper Troopers and The Angel Network for the work and effort they have put in behind the scenes.

“From managing Sidney’s funds to helping navigate his medical care, none of this would be possible without you,” Chad said, hinting that next on the list was to build Sidney a new home!

Now isn’t that just something. Sidney’s journey reminds all of us that lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through consistent support, meaningful relationships, and a community that believes every person deserves the opportunity to rebuild their life.
