A fun day on the fairway, where every swing helps give orphaned elephants a second chance.

Pretoria, South Africa (10 July 2026) – Golfers, businesses and conservation supporters are being invited to ‘Swing into Action for Elephant Conservation’ when HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) hosts its very first Charity Golf Day this October!

Taking place on 13 October 2026 at Waterkloof Golf Club in Pretoria, the event promises a fantastic day on the fairways while raising vital funds for the rescue, rehabilitation and lifelong care of orphaned and displaced elephants.

HERD, South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, has spent years giving vulnerable elephants the care and protection they need to thrive. Beyond caring for its elephant family, it also supports conservation projects, environmental education and community empowerment initiatives that help create a brighter future for both people and wildlife.

The organisation recently broke ground on its In Memory of Limpopo Research Centre, where researchers will use ethical, non-invasive science to better understand elephant nutrition, health, stress and wellbeing. The insights gained there will help improve the care of orphaned elephants today and shape conservation efforts for generations to come.

Every four-ball booked for the Charity Golf Day will help make HERD’s work possible.

Golfers can look forward to an 11am shotgun start before enjoying 18 holes of golf with carts included. Along the way, there’ll be a halfway meal, goodie bags, exciting on-course competitions, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the day with friends, colleagues or clients. The event will wrap up with a prize-giving function and charity auction.

Entry costs R5000 per four-ball, with proceeds going directly towards HERD’s conservation work and the care of orphaned elephants.

The event also offers businesses a meaningful way to get involved, with three options for sponsorship, along with the opportunity for prize sponsorship which gives brands of all sizes the chance to support a worthy cause while connecting with more than 120 golfers and invited guests.

Come along, spend a day on one of Pretoria’s beautiful golf courses, and know that every swing helps support elephant conservation, education and community upliftment.
