Team Miles for Meals is using its Africa Rally adventure to raise funds for a new classroom at Love In A Bowl.

Hout Bay, South Africa (13 July 2026) – Every kilometre travelled by Team Miles for Meals is helping bring a dream one step closer to reality, a dedicated classroom where children in Hout Bay can learn, grow and feel safe.

Before setting off on their Africa Rally adventure, the two Matts behind Team Miles for Meals visited Love In A Bowl to see first-hand what their fundraising journey is supporting.

The pair are using their cross-continent challenge to raise awareness and funds through a crowdfunding campaign, with every donation going towards building a new classroom at the organisation’s farm.

Love In A Bowl founder Tjarla said the classroom will become far more than just another building.

The space will allow the organisation to host weekly educational programmes, offer extra lessons, provide nutritious meals and create a safe environment where children can continue learning beyond their early childhood development centres.

Love In A Bowl has become a lifeline for many families in Hout Bay, growing organic vegetables on its farm while using every sale to support vulnerable members of the community.

Today, the organisation supplies nutritious food to around 1,900 children every week through 23 distribution points across Hout Bay and Imizamo Yethu, while also serving additional meals through its weekly community cook-up.

Tjarla says healthy food remains out of reach for many families because of the cost, making initiatives like Love In A Bowl even more important.

Early childhood development centres, she added, play a crucial role in preparing young children for formal education by giving them a safe place to learn during their formative years. The planned classroom is the next step in expanding that support.

Tjarla said community backing makes everything the organisation does possible, adding that projects like the Team Miles for Meals fundraiser allow Love In A Bowl to dream even bigger.

Those wanting to support the campaign can donate through their crowdfunding page, while others can also contribute by purchasing Love In A Bowl’s organically grown vegetables, with every purchase helping fund the organisation’s work.

As Team Miles for Meals continues its African adventure, every kilometre covered represents another opportunity to help create a space where even more children can thrive.
