Daniel’s love for rugby turned into an unforgettable experience when Reach For A Dream helped him meet Siya Kolisi and the Springboks.
Johannesburg, South Africa (14 July 2026) – A Springbok win made the day unforgettable, but meeting Siya Kolisi made it a dream come true
For 14-year-old Daniel from Bryanston, watching the Springboks at Ellis Park was already going to be a special day. What he didn’t know was that he wouldn’t just be watching his heroes from the stands, he’d be standing alongside them.
Thanks to the Reach For A Dream Foundation, Daniel’s love for rugby turned into an unforgettable experience before South Africa’s Test against England.
Believing he was simply attending the match with his family, Daniel was instead surprised by the opportunity of a lifetime. Announced in front of thousands of supporters as a match-day mascot and special member of the Springbok team, he walked onto the famous Ellis Park turf and took his place next to Springbok captain Siya Kolisi during the national anthem. For a young rugby fan, it was a moment few could ever imagine.
The memories didn’t end there.
After the match, Daniel met the entire Springbok squad, celebrated their victory over England and had his jersey signed by the players who had just delivered another memorable performance for South Africa. It was the perfect ending to a day that combined everything he loves.
The Reach For A Dream Foundation has spent decades creating life-changing experiences for children living with life-threatening illnesses, proving that dreams, no matter how big or small, have the power to bring hope. It became part of a Springbok victory he’ll never forget.
