The latest mic’d-up fan trend gave supporters their own spotlight, and the result is a collection of hilarious commentary.

Durban, South Africa (24 July 2026) – Sometimes the best entertainment isn’t happening on the field; it’s happening in the stands.

One of sports’ latest social media trends is putting a microphone on supporters during a match and simply letting the cameras roll. The result? And believe us when we say it’s pure gold.

The Springboks’ clash against Wales at Hollywoodbets Kings Park delivered plenty of memorable moments on the field, but it was the mic’d-up fans who had social media laughing long after the final whistle.

There was plenty of love for Springbok centre Jesse Kriel, with one supporter confidently declaring, “If you have Jesse Kriel on your team, you’re playing with 16… maybe 17.”

Another fan couldn’t decide which part of the Bok star they’d like to have most.

“I’ll take Jesse Kriel’s quads.”

The microphones also captured every gasp, celebration, joke and bit of friendly banter, reminding fans that watching rugby is just as much about the people around you as it is about the game itself.

It’s a trend that’s becoming popular across the sporting world, including organisations like Wimbledon also hoping to give supporters their own moment in the spotlight.

And if the reactions from Kings Park are anything to go by, rugby fans might just deserve their own post-match highlights.
