After seeing children running barefoot, Craig was moved to get them the gear they desperately needed. Through Project Run, his kindness is now helping disadvantaged athletes and the inspiring women of Sinakekele Children feel supported, strengthened and seen.

Verulam, South Africa (19 August 2026) – After witnessing children running barefoot at the Cannibal Cave parkrun while competing for clothing rewards, something compelling moved within Craig Wright. The moment inspired him to create an initiative focused on collecting preloved running shoes and distributing them to disadvantaged runners in South Africa who lack proper footwear.

Today, through Project Run, Craig collects donated running shoes and sports gear locally and internationally, which are then shipped and distributed to athletes taking part in running events at various levels.

This generosity has continued to reach various deserving sportsmen and charities, including Sinakekele Children’s Indlovukazi Ladies, a specialised health, strength and empowerment initiative for female staff members and community ladies at the children’s charity.

Indlovukazi Ladies features intensive training and fitness sessions to support the wellbeing of the hardworking women, while also forming part of Sinakekele’s broader community outreach programme, which hosts weekly Bible studies and creates a supportive network for local women and grandmothers.

A fan of the initiative, Craig recently travelled all the way to Verulam to personally deliver running shoes and a knee guard to Lindy, one of Sinakekele’s dedicated staff members, who is deeply committed to her health and to strengthening her body – even in the rain!

All the Indlovukazi ladies are loving the fitness sessions and are growing stronger every day. Having selflessly supportive people like Craig cheering them on makes the journey and the initiative all the more wholesome!

After receiving the recent donation of sportswear for one of their own, Sinakekele Children’s founder, Ruth Grobler, said she was blown away by Craig’s kindness and generosity.

“From shoes and shirts to sports bras and knee guards, Craig has continually gone out of his way to support our Indlovukazi ladies. He has a heart full of love and so much to give. An inspiring example of service and unconditional kindness,” she said.

Craig, your contribution to these incredible women and to promising athletes everywhere is inspiring, and it is exactly the kind of goodness we will always celebrate and applaud.
