Hotdogs

Dogs catching hot dogs has been a trend online for a while now, but seeing local pooches join in just lifts the spirits.

South Africa (28 August 2026) – The Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre shared the cutest video of eager rescues trying to catch delicious hot dogs. These rescue pups may have had a difficult start, but today they have their eyes firmly on the prize. And by prize, we mean a delicious hot dog flying through the air.

Some of them look like seasoned professional hot dog catchers… Others could do with some practice.

This is exactly the kind of content we wanted to see on a Friday!

I think we sometimes underestimate how much the little things matter. A safe place to sleep, someone who speaks kindly to you, a belly rub, a treat tossed your way. For a rescue dog, those ordinary moments can become the extraordinary ones.

Watching these dogs leap for their hot dogs also feels like a reminder to enjoy the moment we’re actually in. They aren’t worrying about whether they’ll catch it. They’re just going for it, and in some cases, failing brilliantly.

These aren’t just dogs catching hot dogs. They’re dogs who have been given another chance to experience all the silly, joyful, everyday things that make life good. Even when those things happen to be flying through the air.

So, if you are looking to add a little love with hot dog breath to your home, reach out to the team at Wetnose; they have lots of little hot dog breaths ready for adoption.
