When glitz turns into giving! St Laurence’s Children’s Haven celebrated a quarter century of its annual Ladies Day Fundraiser in suitably shiny fashion…

Roodepoort, South Africa (17 September 2026) – All the sparkle rocked up in Roodepoort recently, as St Laurence’s Children’s Haven celebrated a special milestone in its annual Ladies Day Fundraiser this year.

The event has now been running for 25 years, marking its silver jubilee! The all-girls guest list arrived dressed to the nines in silver. The ‘why’ behind the glitz is everything…

St Laurence’s Children’s Haven is a place of safety in Roodepoort for abused and abandoned boys and girls between six months and 18 years old.

The Haven generally cares for between 28 and 35 children at a time, with some staying for only a few months and others remaining there for many years.

Everyday things many families may take for granted become part of a safe new routine for the children who arrive at the home. They receive warm meals, attend local schools and are cared for by trained house parents.

Fundraisers like Ladies Day are a way to generate meaningful support for the children’s home.

“Our 25th Annual St Laurence’s Children’s Haven Ladies Day Fundraiser was a huge success!” shared the organisation on Facebook.

Thanks to the support of guests and donors, the Haven’s children received groceries, clothing, stationery, personalised backpacks filled with goodies and even complete bedroom makeovers.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed, supported and donated to help make this special and very necessary fundraiser possible.” it added.
