South Africa Books a Place in the 2027 Netball World Cup

South Africa’s World Cup ticket was already secured, while Malawi and Namibia earned Africa’s additional qualification spots in Nairobi.

South Africa (29 September 2026) – The SPAR Proteas can start looking ahead to Sydney.

South Africa have officially secured their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup, with their qualification already locked in through the World Netball Rankings before the 2026 Africa Netball Cup even got to its final stages.

And while that might sound straightforward, the qualification picture in Nairobi took an interesting turn along the way.

South Africa and Uganda finished top of their respective pools during the continental tournament.

By the end of the eight-day tournament at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Malawi and Namibia had secured Africa’s additional places at the 2027 Netball World Cup.

That means the continent will be represented by four teams in Sydney: South Africa, Uganda, Malawi and Namibia.

For the Proteas, however, the job was effectively done before the tournament even began.

Their ranking position had already guaranteed their place, alongside Uganda, leaving the Africa Netball Cup to determine which other teams would join them.

So while South Africa will be keeping a close eye on the results and celebrations around them, the Proteas can already turn their attention to Sydney 2027.
