Robyn Samuels has become the first woman to be promoted to Principal Inspector in Overstrand Municipality’s Municipal Law Enforcement Department.
Overstrand, South Africa (08 October 2026) – On 2 October, Overstrand Municipality’s Robyn Samuels became the first woman to be promoted to Principal Inspector in the Municipal Law Enforcement Department.
Robyn joined the department in 2008 and was among the first women appointed to Overstrand’s Law Enforcement services. Over the years, her dedication and leadership have seen her rise through the ranks, including becoming the Municipality’s second female Senior Inspector in 2022.
She received the epaulettes of her new rank from Director of Municipal Public Safety Dawie Adonis and Acting Municipal Manager Edward Jantjies.
The day was made even more special because 2 October is also the birthday of Robyn’s daughter, whose name is Hope! Hope, now 17, was born at just 27 weeks and weighed only 390 grams, but she overcame tremendous odds and has grown into a thriving young woman.
“Robyn and her husband, Ralmon Hansen, who works in the Traffic Department as well as their son, Wayde, will no doubt have much to celebrate this weekend.” shares the Overstrand Municipality.
Congratulating Robyn, Director Adonis said it is encouraging to see hard work and dedication recognised.
“It is also good to see women continuing to take on leadership roles in a profession that has traditionally been male-dominated. We hope her achievement will inspire other women to pursue leadership roles in public safety,” he said.
With her new rank, Robyn has added another milestone to her career and opened the door for more women to follow in her footsteps!
