South African champion Gian-Quen Isaacs has already taken her talent onto the international stage, but the journey is far from over.
South Africa (20 October 2026) – For Gian-Quen Isaacs, every time she steps onto the ice, she carries more than her own ambitions, but she also carries the hopes of a South African athlete determined to compete among the best in the world.
The South African national champion and senior international figure skater has already represented the country abroad, including competing at Diamond Spin 2026 after raising funds through crowdfunding. She returned with gold for South Africa, adding another milestone to a journey built on hard work, sacrifice and determination.
Now, Isaacs is setting her sights on the next challenge: a European training and competition campaign as she works towards the technical scores required for the 2027 ISU Four Continents Championships and the 2027 ISU World Championships.
But reaching the next level requires more than talent and time on the ice.
As a self-funded athlete, Isaacs must cover international flights, accommodation, ice time, coaching, choreography, transport and competition expenses. Spending extended periods in Europe is an important part of accessing the training and competitive opportunities she needs to continue developing.
She is now appealing for financial support, sponsors, sports bursaries and other funding opportunities that could help make the campaign possible.
Every contribution can help ease the financial pressure, whether it goes towards training fees, travel or accommodation. Isaacs is also hoping to connect with businesses and individuals who can offer sponsorship or help open doors to further opportunities. She has already represented South Africa internationally and is working to build on that experience.
The next step is about giving her the opportunity to keep training, competing and chasing the scores that could see her qualify for two of the sport’s major international events.
She has already shown what she can achieve on the ice. Now, she needs a helping hand to keep moving forward.
Those who can assist with funding, sponsorships or bursaries are encouraged to reach out. Sharing her story could also connect her with someone who can make a difference.
