When Shylet Buwerimwe couldn’t find her wallet even after looking everywhere, she began bracing herself for the dread of having to renew every single card and document inside. Then, out of nowhere, she received a message on Facebook that quickly changed her fate.

Randburg, South Africa (28 October 2026) – There is nothing like losing an essential valuable to bring your life to a panicked halt. Shylet Buwerimwe had that misfortune come her way recently when she lost her wallet, complete with all her important cards, and simply couldn’t recall where she’d last had it.

“After looking absolutely everywhere and coming up empty-handed, I tried to calm myself down by assuming my little Elon had picked it up, hidden it somewhere, and simply forgotten where it was,” Shylet shared in a recent post.

Just as she was starting to accept the sobering possibility that the wallet was actually lost and bracing herself for the dread of having to renew every single card and document inside out of nowhere, she received a message on Facebook.

It was from a gentleman named Phumulani Zukuzela, from the Engen Westbridge Garage in Strydom Park, Randburg. The message read:

“Good morning, we found a wallet that we believe you dropped at Engen Westbridge Garage in Strydom Park, Randburg, so if it’s you, you can come and fetch it.”

Before she could even finish reading the message, Shylet immediately felt a wave of relief and gratitude.

“Phumulani went out of his way to find me online and reach out, saving me days of stress and admin. After meeting Phumulani, he told me Nelson, his colleague, is the one who picked it up and gave it to him.”

Both petrol attendants’ kindness and professionalism moved Shylet to the core, affirming her long-held admiration for fuel attendants.

“I have always deeply admired fuel attendants. The patience they show to every driver and the consistent professionalism they bring to the forecourt is something that deserves to be recognised far and wide. They handle long hours, all kinds of weather, and every type of personality with a smile.”

She publicly thanked Phumulani and Nelson for doing the right thing and the team at Engen Westbridge for saving her a whole lot of trouble.

“Your honesty, integrity, and exceptional customer care are a shining example of what makes our community great,” a grateful Shylet said, reminding us all that kindness and professionalism still go a long way.
