From the highly anticipated Soweto Derby to the Proteas’ deciding Test against Australia and the Springbok Women’s clash with Ireland, there is plenty of action on the sporting calendar.

Global (30 October 2026) – Formula One is back, and there could be history in the making, with Kimi Antonelli looking to become one of the youngest drivers to achieve a major milestone in the sport. The Premier League is also serving up another round of football, while the United Rugby Championship continues to deliver plenty of action. There’s no shortage of sport to follow this week, but here are three events worth adding to your watchlist.

Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs: The Soweto Derby

Few fixtures capture South African football quite like the Soweto Derby. Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs renew their rivalry at FNB Stadium on Saturday, with supporters from both sides expected to bring the atmosphere.

Fans heading to the stadium are being encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays at the entrances. Authorities, including the JMPD, SAPS and stadium management, have put measures in place to manage traffic and keep supporters safe.

Proteas vs Australia: Third Test Reaches a Crucial Stage

The deciding Test between South Africa and Australia is finely poised, with the visitors gaining an important advantage late on day three at Newlands.

South Africa finished the day on 140 for four, holding a lead of 40 runs, after captain Temba Bavuma was dismissed for 35 by Nathan Lyon with just minutes remaining. Lyon found significant turn on the surface, making life difficult for the South African batters in the closing stages.

Matthew Breetzke and Ryan Rickelton were unbeaten at the close, with the pair facing an important task on day four as the Proteas look to build a more challenging target.

Springbok Women vs Ireland: Final Test of the Year

The Springbok Women are preparing for their final Test of the year, as they face Ireland at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.

The coaches have made several changes to the starting line-up following last weekend’s 40-27 defeat, with the team looking to respond in the second meeting between the sides in the WXV Global Series.

It’s an opportunity for the team to finish its international year on a positive note in front of a home crowd.
