Michael Myekwa is the talented sand man of Fish Hoek. He was approached about a permit for his work and didn’t have one so the community helped him get it.
Michael Myekwa creates beautiful sculptures on Cape Town beaches. This is a growing trend for beach towns, previously we shared a story about a man in PE that does the same thing. Recently he had been on Fish Hoek Beach but was told he needed a permit, as he is considered as a busker, to be there and was sent away.
The Fish Hoek community decided to help him apply for one as they loved seeing his artworks on the beach.
“He is extremely grateful for the help and support from the Fish Hoek community, and we are thrilled to have him here.” – Granny Lamby
People have even started requesting he visit their beaches. A woman from Pringle Bay wants to hire him for their town festival in the new year.
“Good news!! Michael the sand man has a permit!! Look out for him this Saturday morning on the beach!! A big THANK YOU to those who helped him ❤️” – Fish Hoek Beach
Michael Myekwa has something really special planned to say thank you to the community for helping him. If you are in the Fish Hoek area tomorrow (26th August 2017) be sure to head down to the beach.
