A generous farmer from Dargle in the Midlands teamed up with Gift of the Givers to donate fodder to farmers struggling in the drought regions of the Cape.
Gift of the Givers is an organisation dedicated to offering relief during times of disaster. There is no greater time of need than a time of drought. Water is life and without it, many won’t make it. The organisation teamed up with a generous farmer from Dargle in the Midlands.
The Midlands have been fortunate with rain and therefore have the means to offer support to their less fortunate neighbours. A flatbed truck was loaded up with fodder to be sent from Mooi River to the Eastern Cape. Fodder is dried hay or straw, for cattle and other livestock.

The Gift of the Givers has also been working with other generous donors to support not only the farmers but the farm workers as well.
Sadly due to the drought, many farm workers have lost their jobs or been placed onto short time, leaving them destitute and desperate. The organisation collected 3000 food parcels to be delivered to these workers in the Vredendal area.

Stories like these remind us how precious our food source is. It is on this note that we remind you to care for SA’s water. South Africa as a whole is currently a water scarce region and not just the areas that are drought-stricken. We encourage everyone to be water wise.
