A South African woman wrote an open letter to a Police Officer after he helped her toddler at the airport.

Tiffini originally sent us the story in 2016 which we published on Facebook but the since the website has grown immensely, we’ve decided to re-share the beautiful story with all our Good Things Guy readers.

The South African mom wrote an open letter thanking Officer Malemela for assisting her at the airport… and renewing her faith in the police force.

“There are truly no words to express my immense and sincere appreciation to this gem of a man who went above and beyond the call of duty today. So immeasurably thankful!”

After a long day of family fun, it was time to drop ‘granny’ at the airport. With three tired toddlers in tow, they stopped off for some Sushi at the airport food court and then it was time for granny to go.

As any mom would know, cranky toddlers and goodbyes are not a great mix.

“The melt down that occurred is difficult to explain to any person who hasn’t tried to reason with a toddler before however in the middle of the busy airport all the wheels came off- every time I managed to get one of the three under control another would bolt.”

Screaming at the top of their lungs, banging the floor and running desperately for granny.

“It was like a horror movie and I was falling apart! People were looking at me like I was the worst mother in the world!”

And then Officer Malemela appeared. Tiffini described his entrance like an angel appearing from nowhere.

“It literally felt like he saved my life! He came in, scooped them up, loved them, cuddled them and carried them across two terminals, all the way to my car!!!

Gentle, nurturing, kind, compassionate – there are no words that do justice to the way he helped me!!!”

Although embarrassed by ‘the meltdown’, Tiffini was so pleased to have lived this experience, so thankful to have met this man!

“Make him famous! I am in awe of you sir, you have renewed my faith in the police force and have reminded me and my children of what true service is!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Never in my life did I think I’d warrant a police escort and a police escort carrying my toddlers is so way above and beyond anything I could ever have dreamed!!!”

The post inspired many who read it, who left comments thanking the officer for restoring their faith in the police force too.

Sharon Joan Van Staden said: “These children will grow up to respect policeman because they will remember a great hearted policeman. Thank you Malemela you are a good example to many a policeman. God has blessed you in abundance. Thank you to the parents to this young man who brought him up in a good way.”

Yvonne Dunbar commented: “Now this is a great story – should be headlines instead of all that depressing trash we get dished up to us!”

Nonzuzo Nomvungu Mazeka added: “I am so touched by your story, there are still good people in South Africa, well done to this young man,, i m proud of him and his good work.”

Mkhwananzi Nomazulu posted: “What a good man indeed, many people who work at the O.R.T airport (food court) would agree with me, I worked at one of biggest restaurant at O.R.T. He’s doing it from his heart honestly. Ntate u do deserve a golden crown Melemela. GOD bless u, you are one in a million.”

Theresa Malemela posted: “Ask me about Mr. Malemela he is my husband. Kids always come first. We have two kids, our son and our daugther. He is my hero too. God bless him on his work and the colleagues in blue.
