Izanne Dalle Ave, a teacher at Forest Town School has shared a very proud moment involving six of her special needs students.
Music is transformative and can have extremely positive effects on the human mind, body and soul. This was proven during a recent talent show at the Forest Town School.
Izanne Dalle Ave couldn’t contain her pride when six of her special needs students took to the stage and beautifully performed their rendition of Homeless by Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The Forest Town School caters to a variety of special needs including learning difficulties and various disabilities. They offer many classes that help develop useful life and job skills. They teach cooking, beauty trade skills, soap and fragrance making, and so much more. These skills offer the opportunity of employment or self-employment.
The school hosted their annual talent show and everyone got involved. Izanne said that they had practised incredibly hard but that their hard work paid off beautifully.
A few of the young men performing suffer from varied speech impediments but as soon as they opened their mouths, harmony followed.
“Thought I’d share my boys singing Homeless. All these boys have suffered terrible injuries and 3 are quadriplegic. They haven’t lost their joy neither their magnificent voices. This is their rendition of this awesome song at our talent show. Bought the house down” – Izanne Dalle Ave
It is wonderful to see the true power of music and how it can inspire so many people. Not only did the talent show showcase the singing talents of these students but also their passion for dance. Watch their performance below.
