Lappies became a very famous pup in Cape Town, after years of unimaginable hardship, she is living her best life and finally has a forever home.
Cape Town, South Africa – Last week we shared the heartbreaking story of Lappies, who had run away from her rescuer and spent 17 days running on a broken leg before being caught. Now a week after her second rescue, she is thriving and has the best life ahead of her.
This is her story in case you missed it: Terrified by humans, Lappies made a run for it the second she had the chance.
Lappies came in from Villiersdorp with a broken leg. She was taken to a rescue group to be treated, but when she arrived, she snuck out and made a run for it, broken leg and all!
Rescue organisations started the search and after a few days, realised that Lappies was cunning and knew how to avoid contact with humans. They were surprised by how resilient she was in spite of having a broken leg but the pup was eventually spotted on the Mowbray Gold Course, seen limping around by their cameras.
Lappies stayed on the run for seventeen days before being rescued once again. Since her rescue, she has thrived with the love she has received.
She was sent to stay at a foster home where she became a “foster fail” (its actually a great fail if you ask us!). Aid 4 Animals in Distress shared her happy update and we are crying tears of pure joy!
“So here we are a week after her life changed forever, she is thriving in foster care due to her amazing foster parents and all the generous food donations from Raw Love for your Pets and especially to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for sponsoring JD food specifically designed for joint support.
She will be undergoing her amputation on Friday this week to remove the fused leg that is hindering her and causing pain.
The best news of all is that for foster home has just become her forever home. They just fell in love instantly and let us know yesterday that she is exactly where she is meant to be. We are so happy for her and know her life will be filled with love and kindness for the rest of her days.
