Capetonians are encouraged to join a scooter rally this weekend to help the ‘My Father’s House’ organisation support women and children escaping abuse.
Cape Town, South Africa (04 August 2020) – The NPO, My Father’s House, is happy to announce that Simon’s Town Scooters is holding a scooter rally against women and child abuse to assist the organisation.
The aim of the rally is to collect foodstuffs to raise awareness and bolster the food and fundraising efforts of My Father’s House, as the organisation continues its important work of feeding local communities in the Southern Peninsula during these trying times of COVID-19.
The rally will take place on 8 August 2020. Registration is at 9 am from the Simon’s Town Country Club and the entrance fee is a donation of non-perishable food items which will go to the NPO. (Parking is available at Jubilee Square and the Yacht Club.)
Departure is at 10 am and the route will go from The Simon’s Town Country Club to Smitswinkel Bay, Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek Farm Village, Glencairn Express and back to Simon’s Town.
Muffins and coffee will be available on the morning and entrants are urged to support Jacky’s Catering to pre-book a Burgers and Chips take-away from The Country Club after the rally.
My Father’s House currently feeds 260 – 375 people daily from their Simon’s Town kitchen, headed by founder Shadrick Valayadum, along with helping to coordinate community kitchens around the Southern Peninsula where over 1000 people are fed daily.
There is an ever-growing need to support vulnerable members of the community, and MFH is thrilled to have the buy-in and support of the businesses and community members of Simon’s Town.
My Father’s House is founded on a holistic approach to uplift the vulnerable and poor.
The focus of the NGOs is;
- Food Bank and Soup/community Kitchens – C19 Emergency Feeding
- Homeless persons feeding, rehabilitation and re-homing/reintegration
- Social and academic support of youth at risk
- Physical, mental and spiritual well-being of the poor and vulnerable
- Render physical, spiritual support to communities in the catchment area
Simon’s Town Scooters is looking forward to the rally to mark the good work that is being done to support their community and surrounding areas by My Father’s House.
