The Samui Elephant Haven loves to throw parties for their elephants, and this time, Kwan celebrated her 11th birthday with her two besties.
Samui, Thailand (11 October 2021) – The Samui Elephant Haven, one of Thailand’s thirteen ethical elephant sanctuaries, recently celebrated one of their elephants big birthdays.
The Samui Elephant Haven provides a sanctuary for 21 rescued elephants and a baby on the tropical island of Koh Samui in Southern Thailand. The sanctuary takes in animals, rescued from hard labour situations and tourist traps. In Thailand, it is common practice to ride elephants; however, this is cruel and considered unethical. At the Samui Elephant Haven, the elephants are left to live the rest of their lives freely, without being ridden by a human.
Kwan Samui recently turned 11-years-old and to celebrate; the sanctuary made a fun birthday cake for her to share with her friends.
“Today Kwan Samui is 11 years old and she gets to celebrate with her best friends Moloair and Nong Pech who love her very much. This trio are always together enjoying each other’s company. We are delighted to watch her grow up happy and healthy surrounded by her loving ele family.”
They celebrated her big birthday on World Animal Day, 4 October 2021.
“Today is also a special day as it’s World Animal Day! At the sanctuary, we also have cows, dogs, cats and chickens. Apart from the cows and elephants the others just turn up and decide it’s a good place to stay. Surprisingly they continue to stay even though Nong Pech does his best to get rid of them.”
