The Stellenbosch University Choir has released two new, incredible performances, and we love both so much! Which is your favourite?
Stellenbosch, South Africa (13 October 2021) – The Stellenbosch University Choir has pulled a sneaky one and released two incredible covers in one day! From Greatest Showman’s “Never Enough” to proudly South African global hit “Jerusalema”.
The Stellenbosch University Choir was founded in 1936 under the baton of William Morris. After him, various conductors established the ensemble as an influential South African choir.
The Choir, an ensemble of approximately 80 – 100 voices, has won international acclaim through performances, concert tours, and participation in prestigious festivals and competitions.
And only a few of the students in the group actually study music!
The University choir is one of the most celebrated in South Africa with various awards from around the world… at the World Choir Games in Bremen (2004), they won the category for Mixed Youth Choirs. In Graz, Austria (2008), they won the category for Musica Sacra. In July 2010, the Stellenbosch University Choir took part in the 6th World Choir Games in China and won the categories Contemporary Music and Mixed Choirs. The Choir won the latter category with 95.75 points – 8 points more than the choir that came second and with the highest score of the whole competition.
They are one of the best choir’s in the world! Listening to the two new performances below, we think you would agree.
They took on a Greatest Showman cover as well as the global hit, Jerusalema. Which one do you love most?
